Vigilplunk

I figured I might as well introduce everyone to the creature species called Vigilplunks! I love these things and Julia Gumbryte perfectly captured the essence! Vigilplunks are creatures that stay in the bathrooms of the magickal schools to make sure that no one is bullied. I created these so that the schools could have gender neutral bathrooms without any problems and so that people could use the correct bathrooms according to their gender. They come in various shades of pink.

Below, you can click to learn more about them. We have also made a book sleeve and a bookmark that go with the first book in The Negligent Magick Trilogy.

Trennly and Kren

Everyone meet two of my beloved characters, Trennly and Kren. They are the only two mini-trolls in The Lockdrest Universe and make their debut in the first book of The Negligent Magick Trilogy: Lockdrest. To say I love these characters is an understatement. They were the ones who let me break out of my shell and get a little more creative in a quirky and fun way. Trennly (the one in the purple) owns a trendy drink shop, and Kren owns a coffee shop, both of which they had to give up. I loved seeing their relationship and appreciated the journey they took me on. If you want to know more about them, like how they became mini-trolls, what room they were placed in when attending Lockdrest, their favorite type of books, and so forth, feel free to click below.

Molly

Everyone meet Molly, the main character in The Negligent Magick Trilogy, whose artwork was done by Julija Gumbryte. In the series, Molly remains the main point of view, although within the three books, the other points of view change. For example, in Lockdrest, the two main points of view are Molly and Namu, but in the second publication of the series, it’s Molly and someone else.

I made Molly when I was taking a writing course and I wanted to make a fun scene that let my imagination explore. Molly was created because I needed someone who was young and trying to figure out her life. She is someone who has been traumatized her entire life because of ghosts trying to take over her body. She is also stuck in this weird time period when society is trying to figure itself out since it was just realized by the nation as a whole that magick is real and exists.

Molly has a special place in my heart because she and Namu started The Lockdrest Universe. She allowed me to explore the fun side of myself while also allowing my typical dark side to leak in.

Behind the Scenes of “Villa But Goes By Vil”

“Villa But Goes By Vil” is another passion project of mine that honestly came about out of anger. It’s about the unfairness of the world and how one sibling could have the world after them while the other is able to go through life unscathed.

This story takes place in The Lockdrest Universe in the Wandering Realm’s Quaint Side, which is another place that I can’t wait to show my readers and the world.

I honestly had a lot of fun writing this story. When I started, I did not have that much of a plan for it, it just came out of me while my emotions were trying to work themselves out.

This artwork was done by Alana Tedmon, whom I am so happy I trusted with this personal piece. If you want to read the short story, click below!

Behind the Scenes of “Veil”

“Veil” was a small passion project that came to life because my mind apparently wanted to try to deconstruct a problem that I see most times in society: which is how once someone or something isn’t a benefit to society anymore, their needs are ignored.

“Veil” takes place in The Lockdrest Universe and actually has an interesting backstory. The ball you see in the picture comes from the Wishing Realm in the Forbidden Tell. It had arrived from the Wishing Realm into the Forbidden Tell in 1013, which was before the Forbidden Tell was blocked off by the Magickal Society. (All these things I can’t wait to dive into later on.)

This amazing piece of artwork was made by Susanne Hundseder, and you can find the short story if you click below.

The Conzeal Stran

This scene is a scene from the book Unredeemed, and honestly, I am blown away by how well Colin Moore Alvarado was able to capture it. This is one of the prints I would love to get printed on a metal slate to hang on a wall one day.

This scene takes place in The Conzeal Stran. To read more about the depth of The Conzeal Stran, click below, but I came up with this place to create a mishap with Airya’s powers and to up the emotional tension that would later weave into the relationship arc between two of the characters.

Because we love the art so much, we created a bookmark for it and a mug! You can click on the pictures to see the full item.

I am serious that this wonderful piece by Colin will be hanging on my wall one day, and I can’t wait.

Strigiformes

This is another lovely piece of art by Colin Moore Alvarado that shows the Strigiformes who had made their way into Ausrine and laid the eggs that birthed the Solocs. This is a concept that I honestly don’t remember how or why I came up with it. It was one of those ideas that played like a movie in my head, as if the world I was building was telling me what I needed to write down. I am happy I did, though. I have a love for these giant creatures and how the Solocs’ lives were shaped because of them. Their height can be shown by the little bits around the rocks that look like runes.

If you want to read a little more about them or about the Solocs and Ausrine, click on the link below.

Yelluks

Colin Moore Alvarado created the concept art for this creature belonging to the Kasverse, called a Yelluk. It is a giant worm on the planet Delloc and appears in our book Unredeemed, where our main character, Airya, deals with it. I made this creature because I wanted something to up the tension and pacing for Airya while she was in Nokia, on top of wanting her to do something to gain respect from the king and queen there.

Airya

I just realized I never introduced the main character of our standalone Unredeemed. Everyone meet Airya! Colin Moore Alvarado made Airya’s art, which we love. We decided for this picture to put her in the attire she acquired from the King and Queen of Nokia. She is a Yellow Eye and is the only one left of her kind. From Ausrine she obtains powers that let her travel to other worlds. Traveling to those other worlds with her owl companion, she learns about colonization and opens her eyes to what happened in her own kingdom.

I have received great comments from readers about how much they enjoyed Airya and her character growth in Unredeemed. If you want to read more about her background and everything attached to her history, please click the link below. It will take you to a page full of information about her!
