Tainted Memory

Give me an excuse to laugh,

Even though life is falling apart.

Without you here to hold my hand,

My heart’s twisting and growing tart

Mirrors turn away from me.

Eyes dim for everyone I see.

Without you here with me,

I’m lost and forever will bleed.

Now I sit as the villain in the story.

With all doors shut, people glance away.

You’re no longer my prince charming

After you left and refused to stay.

But what makes me the monster

after you turned my heart to gold?

You ripped the value from me

And whispered I’m wrecked. Now disposed.

Was I never worthy of you?

Or did you like to watch me bleed?

I gave everything to love you.

Forever a tainted memory.

To Stare Up

Lonely, desperate, despaired

I stare up at you

Orphan to a forbidden cause

I look to the face of the moon

You are the only one to smile back

From the darkness in the sky

To the pits I was abandoned

Until you brought light to my life

Never leaving me lonely

Following me to where I need to be

Always up there smiling

You let my soul and self be free
